2.54.3 Pickpocketing

Pickpocketing

A character can pickpocket a small item from another person if the character makes a dice roll using his/her Sleight of hand (including pickpocket specialism) + CO.

The difficulty varies from 4 for an easily accessible object (e.g. pouch on a waist belt) to 10 for a difficult concealed item.

If the character succeeds in the dice roll, he/she will pickpocket the item. If he/she fails, he/she will either not be able to reach the item or will bungle and drop the item.

Noticing pickpocketing

The victim will notice a pickpocket attempt if he/she makes a dice roll using his/her Sleight of hand (including pickpocket specialism) + PE.

The difficulty is equal to the dice roll result achieved by the pickpocket.

The victim has a -3 penalty on his/her dice roll to notice the pickpocket attempt if he/she is distracted (e.g. by an accomplice) at the time the pickpocket attempt is made.
