2.55.1 Forging an item or weapon

Every week that a character works in a forge making a particular type of item or weapon, he/she makes a dice roll using his/her Smith (including relevant specialisms) + ST to determine how productive his/her time is in the forge.

There is a modifier to the dice roll for the type of metal used, and there is a penalty of -2 to the dice roll if the character attempts to forge in improvised situations (e.g. with a makeshift or temporary forge).

The number of production points the character achieves that week is equal to double the dice roll result. This determines how far he/she gets through his/her current task. Each item requires a number of production points to successfully complete it, as follows:

Item Production points required to create
1 Sling, 1 Throwing star, 2 Arrows/bolts, 10 Lead shot, 20 Iron spikes, or 1 Flint & Steel 1
5 Caltrops, or 1 Crowbar 2
1 Throwing knife, 1 Hammer, 1 Javelin, 1 Small shield, 1 Short bow, 1 Bolas, 1 Lockpick set, 1 Grappling hook, 10 gauge wire 5
