3.2.1.5 Body Check [A]

The character closes into the target's hex and attempts to knock the target over by ramming into the target with his/her body.

The attacker starts the maneuver in an adjacent hex to the target and closes into the target's hex (as part of the maneuver). A Body Check cannot be carried out if the character is already in the target's hex at the start of the maneuver.

The character carrying out the Body Check maneuver may optionally turn 60 degrees at the start of the maneuver.

Body Check is delivered in the same hex as target and must be combined with a close into that hex

Once any reactions to the attack have been declared, dice rolls are made to determine whether the attack hits the target.

The "weapon" attack modifier for a Body Check is +2. A Body Check is effectively aimed at the target's whole body (Chest), so there is no aiming penalty on the attack dice roll.

If the character successfully delivers a Body Check, he/she makes a damage dice roll. The "weapon" damage rating for e Body Check is 5 and the damage type is Blunt. There is a penalty of -4 on the target's dice roll to avoid knockback resulting from this attack.

If the target is not knocked back, the character may bounce backwards instead. He/she must make a dice roll to avoid knockback, at a difficulty equal to the basic damage he/she inflicted on the target.

Shield barges: This maneuver can also be done with a Shield as a shield barge. The weapon attack modifier and weapon damage rating for the shield are used in the relevant dice rolls. The character uses his/her Shield skill instead of his/her Combat skill in the attack dice roll.

Action point cost: A Body Check action uses three action points.

A mounted character cannot carry out a Body Check action.
