3.1.4.10 Ready weapon [A/R]

In combat, this action/reaction allows a character to draw a weapon from a sheath or belt into his/her hands, making the weapon ready. Since a character may attack only with a ready weapon, this is a very useful action! The action may also be used to pick up a dropped weapon or an improvised weapon, such as a bottle or a piece of furniture. The character does not move on the combat "board".

It normally uses three action points to ready a weapon; however, the action point cost may be reduced through the use of Sleight of hand (fast draw) skill. If the action point cost is reduced to zero, the draw is so fast that no other character may react to the ready weapon action/reaction.

A character may also use this action/reaction to return a weapon to a sheath or belt. It costs no action points to drop a weapon (which can be done as part of the action of readying a new weapon).
